Shankarpali/Spicy Diamond Crackers - Indian Savoury Snack

Recipe: Shankarpali / Spicy Shankarpali - Diamond Crackers. 


Ingredients: 

1) Wheat flour - 1cup

2) Chiroti rava - 1/4th cup

3) Maida - 1tbsp 

4) Red chilli powder - 2 tbsp

5) Salt to taste

6) Hot oil - 1 tbsp


Preparation Method: 

1) Take a large mixing bowl, add the wheat flour, chiroti rava, maida, salt and red chilli powder & mix well.

2) Heat some oil in a pan and add it to this flour mixture.

3) Mix well in a way that it forms a crumbly mix and holds shape. 

4) Now add water as required step by step and knead into a stiff dough.

5) Cover with a wet cloth or plate and allow to rest for 10 mins.

6) Now check the dough and knead it again. Then divide it into two portions.

7) Take one portion, roll it into a thin circle, similar to chapathi 

8) Roll it slightly thinner so that it gets crispy & crunchy.

9) Using a spiral cutter, cut the rolled dough diagonally so that it forms a diamond shape.

10) Next, heat oil in a kadai for frying the shankarpali. 

11) Once the oil is ready, carefully add the diamond cut pieces one by one into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd.

12) Fry on medium flame until it turns golden brown and crispy.

13) Do not fry on low flame as it gets very hard and absorbs a lot of oil. 

14) Drain it on tissue paper and transfer to a air tight container once its cooled. 

Crispy & Spicy shankarpali is ready to serve & eat!!
