Vegetable Momos - Steamed Whole wheat momos
Recipe: Vegetable Momos/Wheat momos with Momos sauce
Ingredients for momos:
1) Whole wheat Flour - 2.5 Large spoon
2) Carrot grated - 1Cup
3) Cabbage Chopped - 1 cup
4) Onion chopped - 1 large no
5) Green Chilli sauce - 1tbsp
6) Garlic chopped - 4-5 pieces
7) Pepper powder - 1tbsp
8) Water
9) Salt to taste
10) Oil
Ingredients for chutney/Sauce:
1) Onion - 1no
2) Tomato - 1no
3) Dry red chilli byadgi 2no
4) Guntur red chilli - 2 no
5) Garlic clove - 3-4
6) Water as required
*Kindly note: Chilli qty can be as per your tastes.
Preparation Method:
1) Take a bowl add wheat flour/atta about 2.5 large spoon.
2) Add salt, oil 2 tsp and water as required for kneading.
3) The kneading method is exactly like regular chapathi dough. (You can use warm water its optional)
4) Knead it to soft consistency you can add few drops of oil if needed (observe my Video)
5) Once its done close with a towel or cloth and keep aside for 30min.
6) Now let's heat oil in a kadai, we have already chopped all the veggies as mentioned above.
7) Lets get started, add Garlic chopped/crushed, onion and fry well let it turn translucent.
8) Add cabbage, Carrot grated, mix them and fry well.
9) Now let's add green chilli sauce, pepper powder, salt about 1 tsp and mix well & stuffing is ready.
10) Now the wait is over, lets check our dough its soft and perfect.
11) Now take a small portion of dough into round shape dust with some flour and roll it into circle make sure base is thin. (As shown in my video)
12) Add a tsp of stuffing in between and start pleating. Lift the edge from one side first from inside then outside and continue same way.
13) Join all them into centre to seal it and turn once remove the extra on top and fold it up.( As shown in my Video)
14) Prepare the rest of it in the similar way.
15) Now let's cook steam these momos, Grease a steamer plate/idli cooker can be used to cook them. (Observe my video)
16) Place the momos in the plate, make sure you add water in the cooker, close the lid and steam for about 15-20min approx.(keep a check in between to avoid under or overcook)
17) They should look kinda transparent and shiny texture.
18) So its perfectly done remove it out and serve it.
Preparation of chutney/Sauce:
1) Take a vessel or microwave bowl add the onion, tomato, dry red chilli guntur & byadgi along with Garlic cloves in water and cook for 5min in microwave or 10-15min on gas stove.
2) Turn off gas and let it cool. (If microwaved take it off and let it cool)
3) Once cooled add them into a jar and make a fine paste. (As shown in my video) Add a pinch of salt. I've not shown it in video.
4) And the momos sauce/chutney is ready to serve just transfer it to a bowl.
In this given measure you can make around 8-10 momos.
Serve the Steamed momos with Momos sauce/Chutney.
