Rajma Chawal

Recipie: Rajma Chawal
(Rajma/Kidney Beans) 



Ingredients: 
1) Kidney beans - 1 big cup
2) Onion- 2 Large chopped
3) Tomato - 2 Large chopped
4) Green chilli - 2-3 crushed
5) Garlic crushed - 4-5
6) Ginger crushed - 3-4
7) Bay leaf - 2 piece
8) cinnamon /Dalchini - 2 piece
9) Jeera - 2 spoon
10) Turmeric - 1 tsp 
11) Red chilli powder - 2 spoon
12) Dhaniya Powder - 1 spoon 
13) Water 
14) Salt to taste
15) Oil & Butter 
16) Coriander leaves

Preparation Method:
1) Soak the rajma/kidney beans in water for 10-12 hours or overnight. 
2) Drain the water from the rajma and keep it aside 
3) Heat oil in a cooker (this will be a one pot dish in a pressure cooker) 
4) Add Jeera, Bay leaf, cinnamon and fry well
5) Add the crushed ginger, garlic and green chilli and fry well. 
6) Add the chopped onions & fry till it turns slightly brown. (As shown in my video) 
7) Add 1 spoon turmeric powder, mix well & add the chopped tomatos and fry well until it turns soft and mushy. 
8) Add a little bit of water, Red chilli powder, Dhaniya powder and mix well.
9) Next, add one glass water & cook for 2min. 
10) Add salt mix well, and add soaked rajma into the cooker. 
11) Mix well cook for 5 Min. 
12) Add one large cup of water mix well. Next add 1 spoon butter and 1/2 cup water again. (we add water in batches so the rajma doesn't get too watery) 
13) Now close the cooker lid and Pressure cook for 20 whistles. 
14) Once its done remove the lid and mix well and check if the rajma is cooked.
15) Garnish coriander leaves. 
16) Once its perfectly done serve with hot basmati rice/any regular rice along with fried/roasted Papad


Rajma Chawal is ready to serve & eat!
