Pita Bread | Flatbread style | Mediterranean Cusine

Recipe: Pita Bread



Ingredients: 

1) Wheat Flour/Atta  - 3 large spoon

2) Maida/All purpose flour - 3 large spoon

3) Sugar - 1tsp

4) Salt - 2tsp 

5) Baking soda - 1tsp 

6) Oil - 4 tsp 

7) Dry active yeast - 2 tbsp dissolve in warm water. 

8) Warm Water - as required. 


Preparation Method:

1) Take a large mixing bowl and add the ingredients one by one.

2) Add wheat flour, maida, sugar, baking soda, salt, disolved dry active yeast & oil. Now, just mix all of this together ( As shown in my Video) 

3) Keep adding water slowly in batches (observe the kneading process).

4) After the kneading is done add few drops of oil over the dough. 




5) Now you can either transfer the dough to another bowl or keep it in the same one. Cover a cloth over it and keep aside for 2-3 hours for proofing. 

6) Once the dough has raised well and qty is increased, it is proofed well. (It must be soft and puffy, observe my video) Just punch the dough once again. 

7) Divide into small portions with a knife and roll the dough (As shown in my video). Now, further cut them into half. 





9) Next, roll the pita bread with some flour just like regular chapati but keep it slightly thicker than a chapati /roti. (Not too thin or thick) 

10) Cook it on the hot tawa without any oil. 

11) Cook both sides until you see tiny brown spots on them. 

12) The pita bread, a base for our falafel roll is ready. 




Note: Pita bread is used for multiple dishes...like Rolls, Wrap, pockets, sandwiches etc...its widely used in Lebanese cuisines


Pita Bread is ready to use and serve!!
