Ribbon Chakkli/Tape Murukku

Recipe: Ribbon Chakkli / Tape Murukku

Ingredients:

1)Rice flour - 1pau/cup

2) Gram flour/Besan - 1/2 pau/cup

3) Fried Gram/Hurigadle/Bhuna channa- 2-3tbsp 

4) Red chilli powder - 2tsp 

5) Salt to taste

6) Asafoetida/hing - 1tsp 

7) Oil for frying + Hot oil for kneading

8) Water as required. 


Preparation Method:

1) Take a mixing bowl or vessel and add rice flour, gram flour/besan and mix it once.

2) Make a fine powder of Hurigadle/fried gram in a mixer and add it to the mixing bowl.

3) Now add red chilli powder, asafoetida/hing and salt to taste (as per your desired qty, measures can vary) 

4) Heat some oil and add the hot oil - about 2tbsp into it and mix all the ingredients together. 

5) Keep adding water slowly as required making a soft dough. (make sure its not too hard or too soft/watery).

6) Now take meduim portions of the ready dough and fill it inside the chakkli varlu/Chakkli maker with the flat plate design inserted (picture shown below) 



7) Heat oil in a kadai and press the dough in the oil in a circular motion to make a disc of ribbon chakkli/Tape murukku or Ribbon pakoda..call it as you wish! 

8) Fry till it turns golden color on meduim flame.

9) Now our hot and crispy Ribbon chakkli is ready.

Ribbon Chakkli/Tape Murukku is ready to serve and eat!!
