Benne Murukku/Butter Murukku - Indian Savoury

Recipe: Benne Murukku/Butter Murukku 


Ingredients:

1) Rice flour - 1pau/glass

2) Fried gram or hurigadale - 1/4 Cup 

3) Gram flour/besan/kadlehittu - 1/4 cup 

4) Jeera / Cumin seeds - 2-3 tsp 

5) Asafoetida/hing - 2tsp (dissolved in water) 

6) Unsalted Butter - 1-2tbsp 

7) Salt to taste - 1tsp 

8) Oil for frying

9) Water as required. 


Preparation Method: 

1) Firstly, take the fried gram/hurigadle in a mixer jar and grind it into a fine powder*. 

*Please note, it should be a fine smooth powder. 

2) Now add rice flour, fried gram powder, besan in a large vessel and add jeera, hing & salt. 

3) Next add butter and start mixing. 

4) Crumble the mixture nicely with your hands. (As shown in my video) 

5) Now add water in small batches as required and knead the dough. The consistency should be soft but stiff. 

6) Now take the chakli maker and use the star shaped chakli mould. Divide the dough into meduim portions and fill the chakkli maker. (As shown im my video) 

7) Heat oil in a kadai, once the oil is hot, press the dough directly into the hot oil with the presser (As shown in my video) 

8) Fry on medium heat until they turn slightly golden brown and then remove it on a tissue paper/kitchen towel. 


You can store them in airtight containers to retain the freshness for few days!!


Crispy Buttery Benne/Butter murukku is Ready to serve & eat!!
